Ericia King

Director

With over 10 years of experience in Aging and Human Services, Ms. Ericia King is a seasoned professional in the field of Gerontology.  Ms. King is a graduate of Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Business Management from Troy State University and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University. Ericia also holds a certification in Gerontology from Boston University.

 Ms. King brings to her position as the Director of the Lou Walker Senior Center (LWSC), a well-established background and unique blend of leadership in project management, clinical therapy, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills as an empowerment and motivational speaker. She is a trained lay leader in Chronic Disease management, as well as a certified facilitator and instructor in the discipline of Elder Abuse. 

Ms. King began her career with DeKalb County in 2007 with the Office of Senior Affairs (currently the Office of Aging).  In 2017, Ericia joined the Lou Walker Senior Center staff as the Assistant Director of the center.  In this position, Ericia played an intricate role on the team that worked to establish Lou Walker as the first senior center in DeKalb County to obtain the designation of National Accreditation from the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC).  

Ericia has proudly served the citizens of DeKalb County for approximately 14 years.   She is a leader who works with youth and aging communities to assist in the areas of mentorship, life skills, and the coordination of end-of-life care.   Ericia believes older adults are the foundation and the heart of our communities. She has made it her mission to aid in cultivating their vibrancy in the stages of aging that they continue to be the beacon of light and shine like the jewels they are.  

 Ms. King is a 2019 graduate of the DeKalb County Bright Futures Leadership Development Program.  She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Georgia Gerontology Society. Ms. King is the mother of three beautiful daughters, D’Shondria, Jsanai’, and Jaiyla and Ya-Ya to one spunky full of life granddaughter Sevyn.
