“An Evening of Elegance” is a theatrical and artistic experience designed to meet the expectations of those with the most discriminating tastes. Professional performers will be recognized and respected for their excellent talents on the local, state, national and international Theatrical Stage.
Performers include Monica Hargrave, a versatile harpist with repertoire ranging from Bach to Beethoven, and has backed artists such as Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Johnny Mathis; Richard Morton, vocalist and actor known for his interpretation of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech; Sharon Willis, the only female in America who has composed, written, and directed over 14 original operas. She founded the Americolor Opera Alliance as a springboard for classically trained African-American artists; Amarylis Sueing, known as the “sassy saxophonist”, is also a dancer and actress and serves as Associate Professor of Music at Morris Brown College.
An Artists’ Talk, in which Mr. Williams will enlighten the audience about the different pieces, will precede the theatrical performance. Mr. Williams is committed to bringing the arts to seniors and the community as a whole. Pieces will be showcased that those who are visually impaired can also enjoy. As Mr. Williams states, “We, as visual artists, have omitted the visually impaired.” His pieces are highly textured and encourage touch and interaction. Among those showcased will be “Affordable Housing” (pictured above).
