The Lou Walker Center’s Advanced Digital SLR Class presents a Black History Month Photo Exhibit: “The Crisis in Black Education.”
The exhibit opened Friday, February 17 and will run through Tuesday, February 28, 2017. The exhibit is open to the public. Normal viewing hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The exhibit is in the main lobby at the Lou Walker Center at 2538 Panola Road, Lithonia, GA 30058.
The student’s vigorous discussion of the theme, “The Crisis in Black Education’” was thoroughly vetted before offering up 26 black and white images reflective of that discussion. The group concluded that desegregation and busing were major contributors to the current state of our education. We hope you will find our images thought-provoking, challenging and maybe a call to action for you to somehow impact the current educational system in a positive way.
The exhibit features four award winners: Edna Spann, Loretta “Ret” Seymour, Patricia Pendergrass and Cynthia McCoy who won, respectively 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and honorable mention.
