Quilting and photography showcase until Sept. 29

DECATUR, Ga. – In celebration of National Senior Center Month, Lou Walker Senior Center (LWSC) is hosting an open house, quilting showcase and an art exhibition on Thursday, Sept. 21, from noon to 5 p.m., at 2538 Panola Road, Lithonia, GA 30058.

LWSC invites the community to tour the 40,000-square-foot multi-purpose facility and see the center’s classes and groups in action. LWSC offers more than 150 classes, with themes like lifelong learning, fitness, technology, community, and family, plus clubs and groups for many interests.

The quilting showcase, featuring 50 quilts created by LWSC’s quilting class, and the photo and art exhibit, “Four Days in Cuba,” presented by the LWSC Photography Club, will be on display until Sept. 29.

To culminate National Senior Center Month, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners will issue a proclamation Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m., at the Manuel Maloof Auditorium at 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.
